I will start off that I am probably the whitest white dude you can find that grew up in the midwest. I grew up in a farming town of around 2,000 people that had 3 black people. I just say that to show how homogenous the population was and not a comment about the area being racists, which I imagine it was some but not aggressively due to it being a very devote Catholic and Lutheran population. In any case, I grew up listening to the radio, which was mostly pop. I have always had a pretty eclectic taste in music, even now I'll put a teen song on my playlist if I think it is good. But lately, I have been getting into rap ,which I have generally avoided due to not liking gang stuff. In any case, I am really liking stuff that I have been listening to by Wu-Tang, Kendrick Lamar, and MF Doom. I think my favorite songs Chessboxing, Money Trees, Book of War Vol. 1 and 2. The last 3 of those I think are near perfect. I don't know where to go from here. I never listened to any rap growing up so I am kind of discovering it by stumbling through it.
Anyone else kind of get into rap really late without having grown up with it?
