Honestly, I know that many students are upset about the recent changes, but personally I’m more optimistic than ever.
I understand that moving to Rosalyn AI and abandoning some old methods like Peer Grading may bother some people, but from my perspective this shift could be a very important step forward. The real problem is not that studying has become “harder,” but that the old system sometimes allowed cheating, reduced the value of assessment, and gave the impression that quality was not a priority.
Removing Peer Grading is a positive thing for me, because peer assessment was not always fair or accurate, and sometimes depended more on courtesy or leniency than on genuine evaluation. Likewise, tightening exam monitoring and combating cheating may be exactly what the university needs to improve its reputation in the long run.
Also, changing the LMS system to D2L Brightspace could be better in terms of organization, ease of use, and improving the student experience overall, if it is implemented well.
I’m not saying everything will be perfect from day one, but I see this transition as possibly being the beginning of a more serious university, one that respects its degree more, and is fairer to students who study honestly.
Maybe I’m in the minority here, but I truly believe this change could be the right step.
What do you think? Am I the only one who sees this positively?
