Okay so I’m in a bar and can’t show pics so I’ll be as detailed as possible:
*sigh* I bought this cat palm from a grocery store. It was super full and bushy and healthy looking when I brought it home. The first couple days the plant looked fine and seemed fine.
About a week or so of being in my apartment, I noticed mold (white and fuzzy) starting to grow in the soil. I dragged it out to my balcony and attempted to repot the plant with fresh soil, only to discover that the poor baby was completely root bound and a *tiny* amount of soil remaining (the rest were just roots). I took a kitchen knife (cleaned w/ alcohol) and cut the root ball in half and split the cat palm into separated pots.
One pot is new and bigger with the bigger half of the root ball. The other half had to go back into the original pot with fresh soil but it still seems cramped. The issue I’m having is the fronds are browning and curling under, which I expected, but when should I get scared the plant is not going to recover from being cut in half? Was the mold *actually* mold and not some sort of pest? Aka did I kill this plant??
