There's an old anime series I never got around to watching, but I saw it in an edit I no longer have.

The scene I remember was about some kind of golden (or metallic-colored) giant statue that awakened/emerged. It started floating with its arms crossed over its chest, and just with its movement, it caused an explosion so massive it destroyed an entire modern city. The scene showed everything exploding and collapsing.

I think I remember that they had awakened this thing to defeat a certain character who was too powerful and no one could even touch him. The group interested in defeating him even said that only that power could defeat him.

The animation style was from the early 2000s.

Does anyone have any idea what it could be?
