Symptom: Black Screen on 4K60 Pro capture of Legion Go S
Issue: Handshake Issue/Dock Issue?

I believe this is an issued tie to the Dock that I am using. I don't have the official dock from Legion. Same as Nintendo's docks for the Switch, the official Legion Go is massively overpriced.

The Legion Go S requires a 65W charger to charge while playing. The Legion Go S earlier this year replaced my Steam Deck. I bring this up because the Steam Deck's docks do not deliver 65W of power. (It's kind of hard to use the capture if your computer will die of lack of power in a few hours.)

The dock works perfectly fine to run and charge the Legion Go S but when connected to my Elgato Game Capture 4K60 Pro MK but a black screen. The OBS read out on the device shows no protection and the signal being read perfectly fine. (It's not that Windows Graphics Power setting that everyone online seems to think. At least for me.)

Since the Legion Go S has 2 USB-C ports, I am able to plug the 65 Charge cable in one USB-C port and the Steam Deck dock in the other. This works.

This setup works when you overlook the fact that:

  • This requires 2 docks
  • One dock for the Unit to sit in
  • Another dock to HDMI into the Elgato
  • This requires 2 sources of power: Legion Go S & Steam Deck Dock

(In order to connect the Steam Deck dock to the Legion Go S, I had to take an exacto knife to around the USB-C connect to widdle down the extra plastic that is designed to grip specifically the Steam Deck.)

This is far from ideal.

Is there a dock under $100 that people are finding work for Video Capture while delivering the 65W?
