To UPD students living outside QC: what’s your commute like? And did commuting affected your performance in any way? I'm an incoming UPD freshie and I'll be starting classes this August. I live somewhere in Pasig. Last week, I tried visiting UPD again since the UPCAT last year to familiarize myself with the campus. My commute is like this: one tricycle from my house, one jeep, another tricycle to Santolan Station, I take the LRT to Katipunan, then jeep again to campus. It takes about two hours and the trip home is usually an hour longer since there are fewer jeepneys at night. I find the setup draining NGL but my parents are still undecided about me staying in a dorm. I’m also opting not to apply for campus dorms as I’d rather leave those slots for students who need them more.

My question is: do you think I can handle the future workload with this kind of setup? I know I might sound OA but please excuse my overthinking. This is my first time studying far from home and I am still learning my way around. Since my elementary school was walkable and my high school was just one tricycle ride away, I’m really not that used to long commutes.

Pasensya na po, I know I'll get the hang of it eventually and that I have bigger fish to fry later on pero I'm definitely overthinking things at the moment. My parents suggested taking an Angkas or Joyride when I’m too tired to commute but it’s honestly way more expensive than commuting (400+ balikan). Also, given the recent events, I can't help but feel a bit guilty whenever I book an MC taxi. If anyone knows a more efficient route, it would be a huge help. Any advice would be appreciated, maraming salamat po.
