Getting ready to lead a class through a cyanotype project and needed to make a few test prints today to nail down the exposure time. This one could've probably gone for another minute or two, but it ended up being the best of the prints I got. The image is from episode 6, printed in negative on a transparency. The words are from the phone call in episode 5, handwritten in sharpie on top of the image. The transparency was placed on top of watercolor paper treated to be UV-light sensitive, then left out in sunlight for just over 20 minutes before being developed in water.

Was it my subtle attempt to see if any of my coworkers have watched the show? Maybe. Did any of them recognize the image or quote? Sadly, no.

Context:

Every day of 2026 I'm adding a section into a book on a different aspect of my world, Tarnish. I've written a lot of stories in this setting and wanted to find a way to compile all my info together in a visual way. I've included a few of my favorites here from the month of April. Marked nsfw for some artistic nudity. There is a typo on the Kinless Bonding page that I'll eventually get around to fixing ("some" in the final sentence should be "serve").

Ardor

The second of the paragons, the gods of Gilt, Ardor is responsible for imbuing mortals with their spiritual souls. She is known for inventing love and crafting the constellations.

Tokens

The currency of the lower cities, tokens are crafted by the Artisan Guild and are ceramic. Tokens are only accepted in the lower and middle cities.

Hymish

A journeyer sailor with the Sailor's Guild, Hymish is eccentric and has acted oddly ever since having a near-death on the continent of Elysia. Ever since, he is obsessed with crossing the Evershroud to return to the unexplored continent that he now has a strange connection with.

Verve Spells

Spells involving energy, verve spells are usually seen as a good path for beginners to start with learning the Marrow.

Herbalism Guild

This guild trains healers in both mundane and magical methods. Those unable to use the Marrow learn how to utilize herbs and other natural ingredients for medical purposes.

Light Enchantment

A rune spell that can be woven into nearly any object, light enchantments glow softly when touched. Though there is a small blood cost, this spell is viewed as beginner-friendly enchantment due to its long-lasting effect.

Kinless Bonding

The kinless have a fluid and open-minded view when it comes to long-term relationships. Rather than marriage, they have a bonding ceremony that can be undertaken by two or more people. This arrangement can be romantic or platonic in nature. The Marrow is used during the vows and the resulting scars remain unhealed to act as a visual signifier of commitment.
