Hi, I am an undergraduate considering applying to phd and entering academia, specifically in the molecular biology and environmental fields.

I have some questions about academia about things I would like to know before starting the application process:

- Who would you say academia is for? What are the main qualities of a good researcher? What would you say are the traits of someone not ready or made for academia?

- When did u feel you were "ready" for starting a phd? did u feel unprepared for your phd? how do you become prepared enough for it?

- How long is the publication process?

- When do you know you have enough results to publish them?

- How difficult is to stay inside academia?

- How much of a plan did u had before commiting to a phd? did u always planned to stay in academia or it just kind of happened?

Hi, I would like to add some figures to my MS thesis and it also happens to be a powerpoint presentation that one of my professors during my bachelor's used to explain key concepts that are linked to what my thesis is about.

I would like to ask if he would give me permission to use these figures for my theoretical framework but I don't want to be rude or insensitive. My research is related to his investigation area and he seemed like a nice professor during my bachelor. Nevertheless, I understand that it has been over 2 years since he saw my face and he must have forgotten about me, so my request may be very out of the blue.

Also, i could make my own figures but they would just come out as a slighty variation of his as it is the same concept.
