TLDR: Lycan is mind blowing light. Everything feels snappy but also can be jittery to some. Build quality is great even with the bare bottom design. This mouse sparked a big question of how light is too light and for me personally, This is too light (I play tac shooters most of the time).
Background: Current games i play, CS2 and Valorant. 26k elo and Ascendant (Peaked 28k and Immortal). OW2 Masters, OW1 GM 76 main.
Disclaimer: Not sponsored, Bought during blind buy last year.
Mice before testing Lycan: Pulsar X2N Mini, Great mice btw. Pulsar eS PD170 also great pad (reviews coming soon). Silver fox dots skates
Shape, Weight, Skates & QC
- Click: SPDT switches, Feels nice. Click tension pretty good, no complaint here.**
- Shape: Similar to Sora V2, Ever so slightly lower in front heights.
- Weight: On my scale 29 grams
- Coatings: None
- Battery life: Last me around 4 days until require charging at 1k polling
- Build quality: Pretty good thanks to the carbon fiber rods and PCB design which are part of the mouse construction. If you want to crumble it you can but it’s pretty solid during death grip testing.
- QC: Good, Nothing to complain.
- Price: Paid $90 during blind buy
Gaming experience with Lycan.
Honestly, this mind blowing. Everything just feels accelerated. No kind of restriction what so ever, very snappy. Moving it is effortless.
Gaming with it got 2 caveat.
This is like gaming on glasspad but mouse which i have great experience with but basically, you are more accountable for any kind of error of movement because with the weight being so low. Inertia is lower as well.
To put it in basic terms, this is just raw aiming which are good or bad to some. There are nothing helping you stop other than you.
Because i do also game with 50-60 gram mice and comparing this to that is a night and day. Your aim will be much smoother with 50-60 gram range comparing to this by default.
Easy IRL example: Swinging heavy and light kettle bells. Heavy swings smooth, Light swings faster but a little shaky.
Tac-shooters: Given how game and aim mechanic changes from spray into quick strafes and head taps. I think this going to be a mix bag for a lot of people. You may experience over flicking a few days gaming with it but after that if it still occurs then it’s the weight problem.
I play with very low tension and on higher end of sens but i can game on it just perfectly fine, But if you know you grip it hard, Any kind of shakiness and jittery going to be exposed more here.
Tracking heavy games or higher TTK
This mouse is very good but again this also comes down with your grip pressure. You grip it hard, you gonna feel like this is a scam. Grip it like a baby bird, then you’re cooking. (Yes, I golf).
Tracking any target just feels very fluid, Flicking between target require less effort.
Should you buy it?
Yes, if you want to try the lightest claw grip mouse there is and you have good tension management or you’re casual gamer who just wanted to feel something light.
No, If you know damn well you need a little extra weight to help smooth out your aim and you not really having any kind of issue with 50-60 gram range.
35-40 gram mice player: Honestly, if you like the shape then go for it, If you already gaming with Crazylights or Hitscan hyperlight or any kind that’s within this range and like the current shape then no.
Closing thoughts
It’s not going to be a 29 grams if you start adding grip tape since they don’t wanna have a coating on their mouse, That’s one problem i don’t like about this. It’s raw plastic which is not grippy to begin with, Start adding grip tapes then it’s way off from advertised weight.
I’ve been in the community since 2019, G-wolves is the only brand who kept pushing the weight boundary imo, FM just cut some excess crucial structure of the mouse out and swap plastic for chopped CF nothing really innovative there.
Lycan is designed for a sole purpose of selling the weight as “Innovation” imo but
You mostly buying it because its the lightest mouse experience you can buy rather than this going to transform your aim. No mouse will ever do that.
Feel free to comment if there's any question, will try my best to answer them
