I’ve worked for my boss for 2 1/2 years now. It’s a very small company, just 4 employees. My boss and I have developed a very close friendship and he relies on me and gives me more responsibilities than the other staff. He says it’s because he likes the way I do things, and the others don’t know how to do it.
The trouble is that he employed a young woman 6 months ago and she is, I’m sorry to say, lazy and incompetent. I know this because I’ve worked alongside her. She thinks she’s fantastic, but I can see she is not. She goes 100mph and makes horrendous mistakes. She lost £500 because of her over-confidence and wouldn’t wait for me to supervise her one morning as she was still in training.
She flirts with all the male customers and calls everyone “my darling”. It’s annoying. But worse than that I see how lazy she actually is.
I have complained to the boss about her in the past but last week I really laid it all out and had quite a substantial rant. Then on Friday while he was there she proved all my points and I gave him a look as if to say “see??”
He is now ignoring me. He won’t speak to her about her failings. Nothing is going to change and I’m sick of picking up everyone’s slack.
Does anyone have any advice what to do here?
Before she came along I enjoyed my job and didn’t mind the extra responsibilities. I’m upset it’s been ruined for me and I am no longer happy to keep this up. I’m thinking for putting my notice of resignation in.
