About 2 months ago I got a package delivered to my house by a courier company. My address but not my name. I’m suspicious. I left it on the porch for two days bc I was curious if someone would pick it up, but no one did. Eventually I brought it inside and opened it. The box contained a wireless accessory, which I didn’t turn on. No paperwork but box had a bar code sticker which I didn’t scan it, just threw it all into the garage.
About three weeks later, a second box is delivered by courier with the same unknown name but my address. Again left it outside for awhile, no one pirated it, and eventually opened to find another wireless accessory, no paperwork.
Same deal happened a third time this past week. Another wireless accessory. None were a brand I recognize.
I’ve lived at the address for six years and I’ve met the people that lived here before that. The name on the deliveries is not theirs. My next door neighbor is in his sixties, grew up in his house and never heard the name.
What is the scam? There’s been no attempted contact. Do the wireless things have malware on them? Does the scam start when I scan the barcode?
Update: a different wireless item arrived each time—Earbuds mouse and headphones.
A very similar street name is in another part of the city but the numbering is totally different—they use numbers with five digits and over here there’s only three.
