Caught the NB bug
A long time ago, I wanted to dive into the world of MADE models. My initial pair was the 998. That shoe always felt weird to walk in and not very comfortable. So I sold them. I liked the silhouette though, so I decided to buy a pair of 997s. I’ve used that pair quite a lot, but again, the fit was kind of awkward. The heel has always been crazy hard (and high!), while the distance between the forefoot and the ground felt minimal. I’ve abandoned them mostly and they only serve as my beater shoe from time to time.
I haven’t thought about New Balance since then, it’s been mostly Nike that have been my go to brand. Until I stumbled upon some YT videos which raved about the comfort and quality of NB Made models.
Since I’m a sucker for quality, craftsmanship, and timeless design in general, I had to revisit these once again.
This is what I’ve managed to cop within the last few weeks. They’re all just perfect, I think NB is my new crush in life! The comfort is truly there for each of them; 990v6, 990v3, 991v2. Nothing like the weirdness of 997/998. It’s an effortless and instant comfort as well, no need for break-in periods etc (which I hate, I need comfort out of the box).
As far as sizing: I normally go 9 in Nike, I used to do 8.5, but nowadays I appreciate some extra room as opposed to a very snug fit.
I went 8.5 in the 990v6 and 990v3. They both fit great. I feel I could definitely do 9 in the 990v3 as well, and maaaaybe 8 in the 990v6 if I wanted to really dial in that toe box. But again, the bit of extra wiggle room for my toes is perfect for me. Although, I would say the 990v6 is more snug on the top of my foot than any of the other models.
On the 991v2 I went 9. Because I’d heard of the more narrow toe box. I’m really happy with that fit as well, just perfect and not too snug.
Next on my wish list is a pair of grey 993s :)
…I think I want the grey 992s as well. Poor wallet :D
