If you're interested in the Samsung Neo G8, read this
Hi, just got the neo g8 because this monitor is getting really cheap (got mine for less than 400€) and it's still the only 240hz 4k miniled 32" minitor in EU so some might be interested. I'm not an expert at all btw.
-Resolution: Coming from an UW 1440p, 4k 32" increased ppi vs a 2k 27" (138 vs 108) is actually very huge and impressive, it really is a big woah effect it's just incredible. I start with that bc so much people tend to say that 1440p 27" is the best for pc gaming but if you can afford 4k go for it you won't be dissapointed believe me (and beside gaming it's great to watch 4k movies and shows)
-The CURVE: It's insane, I love it. It's only about personnal preferences, so remember that.
-Local Dimming and blooming: First, the screen is really bright. Some more modern mini led monitor may be brighter, but I don't think it makes any difference it's bright enough to make HDR look amazing. About blooming it's kinda crazy how it's so much noticeable when you're not perfectly aligned in the center of the screen, but when you are, it's really hard to see. Because I don't see why you would be looking at it from the sides, I think blooming probably is not gonna be an issue for you at all.
- The contrast is amazing, even without local dimming it's the best you can get on an lcd so. With local dimming, the black are as dark as it gets and I will recommend to let the local dimming on all the time.
-Coming from a cheap VA, I realize now how much smearing it had. This one, it's amazing it's fairly knew that the neo G7 and neo G8 VA panels actually don't suffers from smearing and other VA classical downsides, and it's true.
-Neo G8 vs Neo G7: If you have done some research, a lot of people says don't buy the neo G8 buy the neo G7 it's better. You probably have seen a lot of hate about the ultra matte coating, I really personnaly love it, it makes the monitor looks so good under day light I have a windows behind me most of the time. Sure if you're really picky maybe the ultra matte coating has downsides in image quality for you but the feeling I personnaly get: it gives you an amazing image quality by day by night in a bright room in a dark room a window behind you whatever. The scanlines issue: Yes at 240hz, they are some kind of lines that you can spot if you're close to the monitor, it's subtle but it's there. It's not that big of a deal, however it's serious enough to make me switch to 120hz when I'm playing a game that don't run at more than 120 fps and when I watch movies or tv shows. At 120hz it's all gone. If you really worried about it see the 240hz as kind of a "dual mode" that you activate when you play competives games. Globally, I have never seen a neo G7 but I think it's fair to say that the coating isn't this huge problem that some people say (remember those are very picky people and that most of them have never seen a neo G8 in real life btw), the scanlines it's gonna depend on you, in the worst case use the 240hz as a dual mode only for competitives games yk. If you hesitate like I did between the G7 and the G8, I would say don't put more than 30-40€ to get a G8 over a G7 except if you play a lot of competitives games.
Overall: I highly recommend in to anyone that can get a good price on it. It's insanely good at HDR, it's very bright. If want a great 240hz 4k miniled 32", well it's the only in Europe, just buy it you will be blown away by the overall image quality.
