I am a professional who went through a situation location: MN, USA, that feels like it was a coordinated set up of character assassination to justify an abuse of power. It started with me raising legitimate concerns about patient care and safety. For example, being forced to commit malpractice and make patients with medical issues wait while the employer wan on a call, handling a personal matter of refinancing a new interest rate on his home. When I confronted him, I was then met with threats. I eventually reached a breaking point where I felt my body just shut down from the stress.
This employer then posted my exact position on Indeed, using his ‘office manager’ (family member) as a shield to corroborate whatever story he wanted to invent. They forced a "sham" meeting that was clearly just a formality to claim I "quit." To top it off, the UI judge fabricated a narrative that isn’t even in the hearing record to rule against me, issuing the decision with a suspicious one-day turnaround
As a minority of color, I’m left wondering if this happened because I’m not "well-connected" or is it because of who I am? Does a title or a bench give someone the right to invent facts and destroy a person's livelihood?
Has anyone else experienced this kind of "off-the-record" storytelling used against them in MN? Or had the proper over-sight committees choose to look away while completely ignoring documented evidence of misconduct?
How do you find a lawyer who isn’t afraid of these "untouchables," and can successfully challenge a judge who literally made up their own version of the facts?
Any advice on how you broke through the barriers or found a legal team that isn't afraid would be greatly appreciated.
