What to major in? Is it worth it?

Older learner. Worked 5 years in construction. Struggling to find work in my city. So decided to go to school. I have been accepted to engineering and applied science. Anyway the university offers different engineering areas. I start first year in the fall as its fundamental and every student takes the same courses. Once admitted as a qualified student I need to select my major but need some advice on which way I should go and is it worth it worth it. Is there potential to earn a decent living even if I have to spend 10 years in the feed as a junior engineer

Electronic systems

Industrial systems

Enviromental systems

Petroleum "

Energy "

Process "

Software "

I am thinking enviromental or energy would be the safest route with less resistance finding jobs but I have no idea

Any recommendations should be done schooling in 3-5 years most of these have 9 term of schooling with coops

Accepted as an adult learner. Turning 40!!! I know and trying to go get a degree. No previous post secondary. Would love to connect with other adult learners. Looking for study and taking notes tips. And just how to succeed in general. Feeling nervous of being older taking 100 level classes with people half my age. Starting this spring and summer with 3 classes.

Hoping the first 3 classes dont scare me away. Haha. Ba&sc student.
