Am I imagining, or did Sunny take alot after Noctis?
Been Re-reading Shadow Slave and after getting to the chained Isled arc again and reading trough it, I noticed that Sovereign Sunless is very similar to Noctis.
First his looks. His clothing of choice after becoming a saint is a Kimono, probably grew on him after being gifted 1 by Noctis. He grew his hair out long and luscious, mirroring that of Noctis. Esthetically they are very similar, although Noctis wouldn't be caught dead wearing black.
Second, his taste. Saint/Sovereign sunless cares about the memories he creates being Esthetically pleasing, something noctis would surely approve off. Before Noctis, sunny mostly if not only cared about the usefulness of his memories. Also His borderline obsession with opening a restaurant and feeding people quality food (just like Noctis stated "I take breakfast very seriously") , even ending up opening a cafe as a result. There's also him picking up wine and trying to enjoy it even tough he mentions repeatedly that he doesn't care for it (Gee! I wonder who he is emulating here? 🤔)
Him being powerful but also being very chill and friendly, not letting the status get to his head, all the while boasting about how great and powerful he is in an arrogant and joking manner.
All the while having a Crazy,Ruthless, vengeful and dark side, that makes the enemies wish that death was the least of their problems. Both of them also having the ability and the will to enslave their enemies and use them for labor out of spite after death.
From his looks, Down to his demeanor it feels as if Noctis left a deep impression on Sunless. It's as if Sunless looked at Noctis and told himself that this is what he wanted to be like in the future. This was most likely further enhanced by Noctis's Death.
And If you think about it, it makes sense that Noctis left such a deep impression on him. He was in the kingdom of hope, wich influenced by the daemon of desire. Noctis was the only person in the series to outplay sunless multiple times (Maybe except for weaver). This might have been the catalyst to sunny trying to take after him, because he acknowledges Noctis's skills in deception (which is right up his ally) This was then further enhanced by the influence of desire, so he ended getting closer and emulating more of Noctis than he intended to
If the author took all of this into account and it's not just a silly coincidence, I sincerely applaud them. But judging from the foresight they have with this novel, I wouldn't be entirely surprised.
