Hub shell split ?

Just riding along, well, powering up a hill at 39x42, no signs of failure whatsoever. First freewheel down, freehub grinds at every rotation. The wheel is still true and rides well when pedalling.

Is this what I think it is? Never seen a hub split circumferentially, kid of doesn’t make sense considering the forces.

Bike size too small?

I'm 188cm / 6'2 and riding this Genesis Vagabond monster rig (Large 2018) for a few years now. No major complains (slight left knee pain on 60km+ rides, but this may be just age ;) ) The first half of the video shows drops, the latter hoods position.

Done the Myvelofit assesment out of curiosity and it turns out that everything seems correct for sport/comfort position, except for the shoulder angle. It's glowing red on the scale and apparently measures between 74 and 80 degrees for drops and hoods respectively.

The bike is very comfortable to ride in drops and that was my point building it - I ride 60% drops on-road and 90% drops off-road, including easier MTB trails.

The Velofit recommendation to extend the stem by at least 10mm (from 110 to 120) baffles me a bit. I tried it before and felt stretched, riding at the top of the saddle and the bike was more bargey to steer.

Should I go for 120mm and persevere? Or is the frame just too short for me?
