So I am reading the Berserk manga and Farnese has decided to leave Guts’ party and live as a noble marrying Roderick.
However I do not understand why when Guts party discover it seem so surprised.
I mean she is a noble woman and nobles parents decided for their children who they  will marry, it is common knowledge and they seem to not know it. Or if they know it they seem to think it is easy to refuse it (it was not at least in real life) and refusing in general to obey the authority of your aristocratic family.

And also when she left them why didn’t they think she was forced by her family to do so? Didn’t they expect that refusing an order from an authoritarian father like Federico could maybe also mean death for Farnese?

Also is it true that she wants to secure them a ship by marrying Roderick?

I know the Holy See is based on the Catholic Church but in one of the first chapters , I think right before or after the fight with the Count, Guts encounters a priest/monk with a girl that is supposed to be his daughter. However in the Saint Albion arc the Church members seem to have repulsion towards sex and attraction.
Maybe an inconsistency?

So recently while reading Berserk I am at the point of the story where Guts’ party is at Vritannis (I think it is that place) and Schilke has encountered a young g girl called Sonia that despite being more likely wealthy is very generous and kind.

However I noticed for example when she is accusing the pirates to not enslave Kushans or when she told her guard to stop beating the shit out of Isidoro she is always smiling. Is it a symbol of her innocence and positive mentality? If so is it because since she is pretty wealthy and young had not encountered any trouble in life so doesn’t think the world (especially Berserk’s world) is a cruel place?
