Does anyone have any recent status of the travel and transit ban for Iranian citizens? I live in Europe and have a upcoming flight to Asia with a 1h30m layovet in Abu Dhabi. I contacted the UAE embassy and they had no idea what I am talking about. Sent an email to the "Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship, Customs & Port Security" and they said that there is no restriction based on nationality.
Yet Etihad support is telling me that I can't board the plane and they won't rebook or refund the ticket! The support said there is an exemption if you're an engineer or doctor, which u need to obtain an attestation from the UAE embassy. Again, contacted them and they had no idea what I am talking about!
I contacted Etthad again, another person picked up and said that it is ok and there are no problems as long as you don't exit the airport.
Does anyone know how the current situation is?
