Who pays the agent during a sale
Hello all.
Currently trying to figure out selling a house with my wife, and we are having a bit of a disagreement. Both of us have never sold a house before. It is a duplex and an investment property.
We are batting around whether or not we should get an agent vs selling privately
Her belief is that even though we save the fees on 1 end, we would be responsible to pay a buyer's agent; the agent we spoke to today wants to bring in cleaners and photographers "that they will pay for". So she wants to get them as we would pay fees anyways, plus all the "free" services.
My belief is the buyer would pay the sale price plus their agents percentage, and it would get split accordingly. With the drive in investment properties, I'm hard pressed to see why we would need an agent. Nothing is free in this world, and they would collect these services in one way or another.
All input is greatly appreciated
