Compression Bits confusion galore please help
I have a shopbot PRS alpha 48x48, with the 1.7kw spindle.
I have a 1/4" compression bit, Spe-Tools Compression bit SPE-X with a 1" cut length.
This bit: https://spetools.com/products/1-4-ex..._fid=6ab0bba53
I am cutting out some baltic birch plywood 12mm, with a bunch of plys for some flat pack (slots together) furniture.
I did a sample pass at full depth of the baltic birth 12 mm. It cut fine, but made a god awful noise, except I noticed that my slot wasn't exact I have gotten slots perfect when using a downcut bit and a lot of air on the slot cutting.
So I am wondering can I, should I cut in .25" passes? This is the point that the down cut spirals start, Or .315" passes (The point that the upcut spirals end)?
I have worked myself into a circle thinking about this, and have no good information to judge this on having never used the cnc with compression bits before.
Thanks,
Guy
