I have been looking for a full time job for 5 months now and have been on EI. I’ve come across roles through the Canada Summer Jobs program and want to apply but the contracts are for 8 weeks. If I am able to secure a contract, I know I can state my hours when filing the reports and it will become inactive after a few weeks. But I want to know if I can reactivate it or reapply after the contract is over and qualify for the remaining weeks I’m currently eligible to receive EI? I’ve heard that you need to work a certain amount of hours prior to losing a job in order to qualify for it and I will only get 280 hours so I am afraid I won’t qualify again. Someone please help.
