Just sharing. Very aware that everyone is different and have had a variety of experiences.
Just got an IUD inserted today. After reading tons of posts and comments about the process and the pain I decided to go to my local Planned Parenthood as my Gyn didnt offer anything but Advil and PP offered cervical blocker, advil a heating pad a tens machine to offset cramping (not sure it helped) and also mild sedation.
When i got there found out that location didnt offer sedation so I mentally prepared for more pain. In anycase the doctor who preformed the insertion was amazing. I do have a high pain tolerance but was so shocked at how little I felt when getting the numbing shot. And then the actual insertion ended up taking about 15 min as my uterus is tilted and basically she said my cervix was closed and she was waiting for it to open which it eventually did! I honestly felt nothing and idk how because I believe each and every woman who who has had a horrible experience with this and was prepared for a rough experience but hoped for thr best.
Im home resting now, definitely cramping but its not near my period level cramps yet so taking that as a win for now.
I was very on the fence with this and I know it will take some time for it to settle, but wanted to thank everyone here who had good experiences that encouraged me to try and for those that shared crap experiences and prepared me for that as well. Its Peri...all any of us can do is try to find what works for us So hopefully this encourages anyone to give it a try if it will help your symptoms of peri or anemia or pcos etc etc.
