Petroleum engineer in Dallas

Hey everyone,

I’m looking for some advice or leads on job opportunities in the Dallas area. I’m originally from Brazil and moved to Texas for graduate school, where I completed my master’s degree in petroleum engineering. I’m also a green card holder, so I’m authorized to work in the U.S.

After graduating, I worked as a field engineer for a few months and really enjoyed the work, but my wife recently received a job opportunity in Dallas and we also have a new baby, so relocating made the most sense for our family. Since moving, I’ve been struggling to break into the market here. It feels like every posting has hundreds of applicants, and with my experience level still being pretty entry-level, it’s been tough getting traction.

At this point, I’m open to a lot — petroleum engineering, field roles, operations, energy companies, geosteering, office-based engineering work, or even adjacent industries where my degree/background could transfer. I’m a hard worker and honestly just looking for an opportunity to prove myself and build experience.

If anyone has advice on companies hiring in the Dallas area, networking tips, industries I should pivot toward temporarily, or knows of openings that might fit someone early in their career, I’d really appreciate it.

Thank you!
