50% considering OCS

Hello,

Keeping this relatively anonymous for obvious reasons.

Six years Army as an 11B. Got out, got 50%, and got my degree in business. Worked corporate and not loving it. Considering OCS.

Here are my questions:

  1. Can I keep my rating. I know I won’t double dip on pay but do I also need to forfeit the rating?

  2. Will I need medical waivers?

  3. Which authority approves or denies medical issues for prior service- is it MEPS or someone else ?

Thank you.

Age waiver - general questions

Hello,

33 turning 34 this winter. 5 years USMC as an 0311.

Bachelors in communication.

High fitness scores and 98 ASVAB.

What are chances to get an age waiver? Do I need to take the flight aptitude exam first? If you fail flight school, are you needs of the army or do you get a release.

Thank you.

Just saw a video from an Aish rabbi who spoke on weed usage, and his argument against it and why it’s not encouraged in Judaism is because you rely less on your natural ability to obtain higher spiritual experience, and each time you get high, you lessen your ability to achieve that higher spiritual state naturally. So my question is how is weed any different than alcohol, which is encouraged on Shabbat and other holidays, sometimes to an extend where you’re supposed to get drunk and, in effect, reach a higher spiritual state.

Seems hypocritical and if Judaism encourages one substance from the earth, say wine, why not another, like a plant.

Thank you !
