Looking for people in Michigan who actually want to build community

This might be random, but I’m trying to connect with more people across Michigan (18–35) who care about:

  • helping nonprofits
  • volunteering
  • organizing events
  • community outreach
  • youth engagement
  • mutual aid
  • civic action
  • making local impact

Not asking for money.
Not recruiting for some MLM lol.

I just genuinely want to meet more people who care and maybe build something meaningful together locally.

Even if you’ve never volunteered before.

If that sounds interesting:

  • comment
  • tell me what issues you care about
  • or shoot me a DM

Would love to connect over coffee or a quick call sometime too.

What kinds of community events would people actually show up for in Lansing?

I’ve been talking with more people around Lansing lately about community-building, youth engagement, and local events, and one thing I keep hearing is that people want more spaces to actually connect with others.

Not just networking events — real community spaces/events that people would genuinely enjoy showing up to.

So I’m curious:

What kinds of events do you think Lansing needs more of right now?

Could be:

  • volunteer/community service events
  • live music/open mics
  • game nights
  • civic discussions
  • art/creative spaces
  • young professional meetups
  • mutual aid/community support
  • outdoor events
  • workshops
  • coffee meetups
  • local markets
  • cultural events
  • anything else

Trying to get a better feel for what people would actually want to participate in locally.

What does Lansing need more of for young people?

Hey everyone — I recently started building a youth-focused civic/community initiative called Capital City Action centered around Lansing and Mid-Michigan.

The goal is simple:
create more spaces for young people to connect, organize, learn, volunteer, and actually feel involved in their communities.

A lot of people want to make change locally but don’t always know where to start or who to connect with, so I’m trying to help build that bridge.

I’d love to hear:

  • What do you think Lansing does well?
  • What do you think young people here need more of?
  • What kinds of community events or spaces would you actually attend?

Appreciate any thoughts — trying to build something genuinely useful and community-driven.
