Hey guys, I’m a fresh grad and I’m currently in a confusing spot with a job application. I finished a final interview for a role I really wanted last week and I thought I nailed it.
I checked in with the recruiter today and she said:
- The first team is "still speaking with other candidates and haven't finalized the result yet."
- But then she asked if I'm interested in a different team that is "keen to interview" me.
I’ve been told the "still interviewing others" line before only to get ghosted, so it feels like a red flag to me. But I don't get why she'd bother suggesting a second team if they weren't actually interested in hiring me?
• Is it common for recruiters to "pass" a candidate to another team if they aren't sure about the first one?
• Does this mean I’m basically out for the first role?
• Any advice on how to handle this without looking desperate?
Honestly just feeling pretty tired of the back-and-forth. Thanks for any insight.
