Given the amount of times that best buddy will be doing absolutely nothing, I decided to try to quantify best buddy's usefulness by comparing it to a gunner drone. At the start of a rainstorm run, I gave my self one orphaned core and quickly found a gunner drone (so best buddy had about a two minute head start). No other damaging minion or item that spawned a minion (squid/droneman/happiest mask) were allowed.
With wolfo's quality of life mod, I had enough information to determine how much damage best buddy and the drone did.
The results: Best buddy dealt 104,707 damage and the gunner drone did 75,099 damage.
Conclusion: Best buddy is worth 1.4 gunner drones. If you could put best buddy into a drone scrapper, he wouldn't even drop green scrap.
