I was diagnosed with Graves’ disease almost two years ago now. I was tested for TSH, T4, T3, TSI (10.6) and TPO (421) which all showed classic readings for Graves’ disease. I did not go through with any treatment outside of taking propranolol when my heart rate was high. In February, I had my annual blood work which showed I was still in an active hyperthyroid state (TSH was <.005 and T4 2.9). I ended up needing to get my labs redrawn this past week for a different issue and my provider tested my thyroid again as he was trying to influence me into taking my medication and the results have left me very confused. I haven’t changed anything and somehow I’m showing as hypothyroid? My most current readings are TSH: 8.85 and T4 0.9. Has anyone experienced a swing from hyper to hypo that was not brought on by medication? It seems like such a short amount of time to do a compete 180 after 2 full years of only ever having my results come back showing an active hyper state.
