Like CSK did last year, why don’t we tank this season and just focus on building up youngsters for the next season?

If you remember, CSK’s season ended pretty early last season but instead of just continuing with the same set of players, they brought in fresh youngsters for the second half of the season.

They dropped the holy trinity of Deepak Hooda, Shankar and Tripathi and replaced them with Mahatre, Brevis and Urvil. All three will likely play a huge role for them in the future.

Moreover they backed Anshul and see how well he is doing now.

My point is they showed courage midway through the season and showed their proactive approach by bringing in players for the next season. Why can’t we do the same?

Let’s drop the players that won’t be here long term and sign some talented youngsters so other teams don’t snap them up in the next auction.

Bring in those youngsters and give them a chance to shine so they are prepared for next season.

Also it’s the perfect opportunity to give an extended rope to players like Tejasvi, Kamra, Umran, Solanki etc and see which ones are prepared to play for us next season.

The preparation for next season should start now!

My conspiracy theory: Rahane does not like Narine and is insecure about losing his opening slot!

Before anyone questions me, I have no information from any internal source, this is purely my own fan speculation.

Since last season, I always got the impression that Rahane was not very fond of Sunil Narine. It felt that Rahane samehow felt threatened by Narine both for his captaincy and opening position.

Shreyas Iyer has said many times that Narine is one of the smartest tactical minds, and used to ask Narine for advice whenever he felt he needed help. Even a smart man like Iyer knew the value of Narine’s insight and experience.

Rahane on the other hand almost feels threatened by Narine it seems. Rahane’s captaincy style is very orthodox and he doesn’t seem very fluid with his plans.

One game in particular from IPL last season I remember when KKR played DC. Rahane picked up and injury and Narine took over the captaincy for that particular game.

Rahane while sitting in the dugout, kept yelling at Narine to bowl Vaibhav in the death overs, but Narine completely ignored his advice and bowed Russell instead. KKR won the match but Rahane did not look happy at all. I think that call might have bruised Rahane’s ego.

My biggest problem with Rahane this season:

The whole cricketing world knows that Narine is useless with the bat outside the powerplay. Narine if he gets going can clear boundaries at ease in the power play.

Even if you don’t want to open with Narine, why not send him at #3 if wicket falls early in the powerplay?

I think Rahane is just insecure that Narine will bat well in the powerplay and take over his spot so Rahane tries everything to keep Narine away from batting in the powerplay.

Ajju Bhai’s post match interviews show why he is the right man to lead us during these dark times!

With the injuries/unavailability of Pathirana, Fizz and Harshit, it was going to be difficult for any captain in the world to get the team to perform. Let alone Ajju Bhai (who is still an excellent captain, I’ll never forget the comeback India made in BGT at Adelaide under his captaincy) even the great Thala wouldn’t be able to win with this team.

Ajju Bhai is standing tall and facing all the bullets for his team, management and players like a true warrior. Ajju bhai your efforts won’t go unnoticed and true KKR fans will appreciate you for what you have done.

Don’t listen to haters and fake plastic KKR fans who only support the team when they win.
