First Impressions
Got a few decants yesterday, so I haven’t worn any of this more than a little wrist spray of each, but wanted to give my first impressions as if you sample them on a store. No note breakdown or performance comparisons.
Essential Parfums - Bois Imperial - 8.5/10
Classy, citrus and woods. It’s nothing new but it smells so high quality, I’ll take it over any Chanel or designer freshie, and for cheaper. It’s very well put together, mature gentleman scent. I’d rated it higher but I like more original unusual frags, still, may become my ultimate dumb reach over some PdM freshies. Would I buy a full bottle? More than likely yes, just want to try the extrait before making a decision.
Byredo - Mojave Ghost Absolu dP - 8/10
Kind of a skin scent, an Ambroxan bomb, I think, without looking at the composition. Very luxurious warm woods in the base. Honestly could’ve rated higher if not for the price, and the fact I like Angel Dust EdP more. Would I buy a full bottle? No, I already have Angel Dust.
Byredo - Bal d’Afrique EdP- 9/10
I see why it’s so popular, it smells tremendously high quality, very light ethereal florals, but also has weight, may share some of the above mentioned warm woods, but in a more natural expression of them. It does lean very feminine IMO, but I love floral scents and wearing them as a men. Would I buy a full bottle? Will do, just got to hunt for a good deal.
-Bonus- Prada - Infusion d’Iris - 7.8/10
I know I said no performance comments, but this stuff fades in like 2 hours, so it had to be said. The actual smell it’s a beautiful floral soap, with a bit light woods in the background. Would I buy a full bottle? No, I will be sampling infusion d’Iris Cedre to see if performance is improved with heavier woods.
