Starting a prog band with a friend of mine, and he's looking to pick up his first 7 string to work with me in drop A# tesseract-ish tuning. I and my band use most of our range most of the time, which is why a 7, rather than a baritone--is more-or-less vital.
I did a bit of looking, and given that he's told me he likes the feel of Schecters (he's been a Squier guy until now), hates Ibanez and Jackson, but doesn't want the same thing I've got (demon 7), it seems like an A7 is the only real option within his budget ($500~).
Can anyone offer me any experience or thoughts on this guitar, the feel, the hardware, electronics, etc? I don't wanna recommend him something that he'd regret buying or that isn't worth the money.
