LEGO #76466: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone - Collector's Edition

Sorcerer's Stone is the american title, the original title is of course Philosopher's Stone and that's also printed on the badge. Sorry for that, I messed up the headline and can't change it anymore.

Anyway:

1,571 pieces, 15 bags, three figures, and a large owl. There are a few stickers, but also some nice prints: the “Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone” badge is a print, the two coins are prints, Dumbledore's Chocolate Frog card is a print, and, of course, the eyes of the Owl Hermione Hedwig, are prints as well.

Unfortunately not everything is printed. If we take a look at the set from the back, we can see that the chessboard is cut off and the set is open and the details inside, which recreate various book/movie scenes, are achieved with stickers: The rooms, the Hogwarts Express, the mirror, the bathroom with the Troll and so on. It would have been better if everything in the set had been printed, but who am I telling this to.

The fact that the black shows through underneath Hedwig is probably even intentional because, after all, the owl does have black spots and such.

There's also a bit of action going on. Inside, there are a few technical components that can be moved by using the three buttons on the side (Picture 5). From left to right, the first button swings the troll’s club, the second turns the owl’s head, and the third extends or retracts the white king. Of course, everyone recognizes the characters and scenes from the movie, so I don’t think I need to explain what the chessboard and so on are all about.

Anyway, I think the set is generally really strong and great and I'm curious to see if Lego will release collector's editions like this one for the other movies as well. I'd definitely welcome that and I think the set is generally really strong and great.

Tja.
