Carl Zeiss Jena Biotar 58mm F2
I was fortunate to find this beautiful Carl Zeiss Jena Biotar 58mm F2 lens, Pre-Set made between 1950-1954 with 12 aperture blades and m42 mount for for $25 Australian Dollars! The person I got it from sold it to me as a 'paperweight' but when I got it home, I realised it is actually working. The only thing is the lens has a tiny bit of fungus on the outer edges, and the blades have a bit of oil on them. You can see it in the one of these photos.
So my question is - does this mean ideally I would take it to my camera repair technician, and it could potentially be cleaned and restored. Or would this bit of fungus and oil not necessarily be a problem. I am keeping the lens away from all my other camera gear until I figure it out. I have m42 to EF-M and m42 to M-43 mount adaptors on order. Although this lens is an M42 mount it wont work on Pentax Asahi m42 mount cameras due to the back element protruding too far out. Hopefully it will work okay on my mirrorless camera's!
