My only exposure to min-maxers comes from memes about how everyone hates them. But I don't fully understand who they are. It seems like they focus on the efficiency of the character build, neglecting everything else. But technically, aren't optimizers doing the exact same thing?

If, when playing a Monk, I prioritize Dexterity, Constitution, and Wisdom, am I a min-maxer or an optimizer?

Sorry—could you please explain to me, in layman's terms (preferably with examples), what a min-maxer build looks like versus an optimizer's build?
