I am a total novice at wood turning with a fraction of the skill you all have, but I wanted to share the shift knob I made for my 68 Bug on an old lathe in our wood shop at work (I'm a HS teacher). It's made from 3 laminated skateboard decks, and I sanded, sealed with ca glue, and polished it on my drill-press with a little makeshift rig. Turned out exactly how I wanted it to, and I did it all by myself with the help of this sub and multiple youtube videos. Just wanted to share, and I now have the itch to keep learning how to use the lathe further!

I'm a high school teacher, and I saved this nice little Graphite G3 from the recycling bin this morning. It boots and runs beautifully. The kickstand even still had the original film on it. According to our IT guy, apparently the school around a dozen of them still hiding in storage until last summer when we re-carpeted and they were all scrapped. (this is devastating, I know)

Luckily, this one wasn't found, and he let me know that I could come snag it if I wanted it before he tossed it out. I am proud to give it a new lease on life, and my students have gotten a huge kick out of seeing what computing was like back in the ancient times of my childhood haha.

Looks great in my classroom along with my Indigo faux G3 external monitor on my standing desk. Just wanted to share!
