My wife and I are set to get our CDLs next month ( not thru any carrier). Based out of Texas. We have been hauling campers for over a year now (non-cdl). We both have spotless driving records and 0 negative inspections. We are wanting to be O/Os and looking to run 2 weeks and 2 weeks off. My questions are: Is it unrealistic to lease/purchase from a carrier or should we just purchase our own truck and then approach carriers?

The current company we haul for has a flatbed division where we could haul a mix of campers/boats and cars if we purchase our own rig. They however lack any type of dedicated longer runs where I feel team driving would excel (urgent freight, reefer, etc). The positive is that they will lease us on right away once we get a new rig. Will other carriers take our non cdl hauling experience and are they likely to hire us strait as a team?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
