I Was His Luna, Not His Trash

Chapter 1 I thought I was doing a good thing. I had just set Chloe up with a suitable match, the childhood friend of my alpha mate Aaron.

Seattle's city lights streaked past the car window as Aaron drove, and our son Aiden sat in the back. The hot milkshakes I'd just bought for them warmed my hands.

Then Aaron spoke, his voice cold. "You know, sometimes you're really pathetic."

I froze. The brown paper bag in my hands rustled. Had I heard him right?

My twelve-year-old son Aiden snorted from the back seat, crossing his arms. "Mom, Dad and Chloe have been together for two years. How many hints do you need? How can you be so dense?"

And I was known as the difficult wife—the kind who made scenes.

When Frederick Sterling came home late, I threw things. If he so much as spoke to a female colleague, I threatened suicide. He wished I would vanish, I wanted him tied to my side.

But that day, I broke the pattern,I cooked every dish Frederick loved.

Late into the night, he pushed open the door, the scent of another woman’s perfume clung to his coat. His expression darkened at the sight of the spread on the table and my pale, frail frame.

“Evelyn Sterling,” he said coldly. “Haven’t you tired of faking illness just to force me home? Isabella told me she saw you at the gym this afternoon—perfectly fine. And now you’re ‘sick’ again?”

It was the fifth year of my confinement in the mental institution when my husband finally agreed to come pick me up.

But when the ward door swung open, a sea of cameras immediately pointed straight at me.

"Congratulations, Ms. Bennett! The five-year reality show Inside the Asylum is officially over!"

A reality show?

Amidst my stunned silence, Nolan Farley—who was supposed to rush over and wrap me in his arms—stepped forward.

His voice was emotionless.

"Josette, this is a reality show Winona put together. You're just the test subject I picked to help her film it."
