So as we all know, Marine Corps scrapped their tank battalions because

  1. They wanted to shift to the Pacific and deter China

  2. Abrams are big AF and heavy as shit

  3. Tanks are vulnerable to drones

But considering

  1. Every fucking shit show the US has jumped into since Force Design 2030 was put into effect has been everywhere but the fucking Pacific

  2. People have figured out how to effectively schwack drones

  3. The Army still haven't figure out how to properly deploy armor in a rapid expeditionary manner (e.g US Army MPF program getting cancelled)

I think it's time the Marine Corps assess it's decision to abandoned armor and think about the possibility of bringing back at least 1 tank battalions for contingency

My suggestion? The South Korean made K2 Black Panther tank. It's lighter than the Abrams, it's more compact than an Abrams. It uses a diesel engine instead of the gas turbine engine found on the M1 so it's more economical than the Abrams. It has a 3 man crew meaning you could theocratically retrain LAV crewman to be tankers. It was designed with consideration of the terrain in the Pacific (South Korea is a pacific country). It has active protection system based on the Israeli Trophy APS and anti drone capability. It's up to NATO standard and has better chance of surviving a ATGM to the face than an ACV. Like what more do you need?

As horrible as Marine Corps barracks are, as incompetent as Marine leadership can be, Marines need to realize that even the worst moments of being a US Marine is still 90 percent better than being a soldier or marine in the rest of the world. Could you imagine being a Philippine Marine and living in their barracks and dealing with their budget? Or being a Russian grunt in Ukraine and having to put up with their command? Or worse? You could have been born in Pakistan and ended up a Pakistani Marine
