I’ve been at this for about 2 years now trying to find answers. For almost 7 months during this period, I saw two different eye doctors (one of them being a COVD Dr.) and went down a prism road. For those 8 months, I was suicidal almost daily fighting through the different levels of prisms. Nothing helped.

My two eyes are slightly misaligned vertically, and my first pair was 1 BD in my left eye. The second pair was 1.5 split between the two eyes (0.75 BD left eye and 0.75 BU right eye). During this time I never got the “oh wow” 3D pop feeing that everyone gets. After trusting the first Dr. for almost 6 months, I decided to find a COVD Dr. who ran all the fancy BVD tests (Maddox, Hirschberg, etc). It took about 2 hours that first appt.

This new Dr. came up with 0.5 BD in my left eye. For the first time, I was actually given a trial pair in office, and still, no “wow” factor. As a matter of fact, I didn’t like it at all. I just assumed it would take time to adjust. I gave the go ahead and ordered a pair. When they came, I wore them for a month before finally throwing in the towel for good!

Once I went back to my “original” glasses, my brain was so fried from wearing the wrong prisms for 7 months without a SINGLE DAY of relief. The prisms actually made things worse and almost cost me my life. Now that I’m back in regular glasses, I struggle MORE than before I even tried the prisms.

Over the last year, I’ve been doing a lot of research on my own. I can grasp that indeed I do have a vertical alignment issue so I decided to try experimenting on my own. I spent over $3,000 up to this point with these “experts.” What’s another few hundred at this point.

Put simply, my issue is this. My left eye sits PHYSICALLY higher than my right eye, but my left eye SEES lower. I found this by testing in a mirror and using a long piece of cardboard to block my binocular vision.

I believe my prism prescription was opposite of what it should have been. Instead of BD in my left eye I should have gotten BU the entire time. The BD was separating my images even further. They were basing this off of my left eye sitting physically higher, instead of seeing lower.

Over the past 3 weeks, I’ve been experimenting with Zenni glasses just to see if I’m on the right path with my logic, and I think I am. I first started with 0.25 BU in my left eye to lower the image down for my lower seeing eye. When I put those on, I got a little “wow” feeling. Not the best since Zenni doesn’t measure seg heights or PD accurately, but still a moment of potential clarity.

I then ordered a pair of 0.5 BU and again, improvement-ish.

I wanted to see if I was on the right track logically speaking, before I schedule yet another Dr appt (this time with a NVMI trained BVD Dr) to get a formal “correct” pair.

If I am correct, it’s crazy to think that I had to discover this on my own.

TLDR: In the picture, my eyes see opposite of where they sit physically. Am I on the right path thinking BU in the left eye is correct?
