Uruk-hai will not break morale and retreat until Gandalf arrives. However, they may slow their approach and be less capable due to morale issues of getting shot, mini retreats and confusion. Airmen have to remain on the wall with elves for 24 hours and then can make the strategic decision to retreat to the tunnels and fight from there instead.
