Montgomery, AL. Field Office

I can officially say that my I-130 and I-485 have been APPROVED!!! (green card still not produced)

I wanted to share my timeline and experience because, throughout this entire process, Reddit helped me a lot, whether it was finding information, asking questions, venting frustrations, or just reading other people’s success stories during the long periods of silence.

A little background about me:
I came to the U.S. in 2013 on a B2 visa as a child. Years later, I met my wife after college in 2023, we got married in 2025, and shortly after, we started the Adjustment of Status process.

My Timeline

  • Filed concurrently: I-130, I-485, and I-765 on August 6, 2025
  • Biometrics completed: September 5, 2025
  • The interview was initially scheduled, then canceled on September 25, 2025 (same day)
  • USCIS later told me the interview was waived (and moved to Greer, SC)
  • Case stayed silent for months
  • Filed a congressional inquiry in March 18, 2026
  • Received interview notice on April 6, 2026
  • Interview date: May 11, 2026
  • Approval received: May 12, 2026

Interview Experience

The interview honestly went much better than I expected. The officer was very kind, empathetic, and professional. He was a younger officer (around 31 years old), which honestly helped me feel more relaxed since my spouse and I are both 24.

The interview was very straightforward:

  • How we met
  • History of our relationship
  • General marriage questions

At the end of the interview, he told us he was approving the I-130 on the spot and would recommend the I-485 for approval as well.

I also mentioned that my I-765 was still pending and that I had been unemployed with a job offer waiting. He told me not to worry because the wait would finally be over soon.

Final Thoughts

Today feels unreal. After living without status since I was 13 years old, it feels like a massive weight has finally been lifted off my shoulders.

For anyone currently waiting:
I know how exhausting this process can be mentally. The silence, constantly checking case trackers and APIs, overanalyzing timelines, and feeling like your life is on pause can really wear you down. There were definitely moments where I felt like giving up.

But things can change very quickly.

I appreciate everyone on here who answered my questions or shared their experiences. If anyone has questions about my timeline or interview, I’ll do my best to help. Wishing approvals to everyone still waiting. God is good!
