How to be a better host?

Hello everyone, I have recently started a podcast and I have just recorded my second episode. And feel I’m not being a good host and not sure what to do to be better. I have an idea of what needs improving but don’t know how to change and develop better habits.

The thing I find that I’m struggling with is being a good host. I feel like I don’t know how to direct the conversation or ask/talk about the things I wanted to during the podcast.

When I am able to ask what I want, only maybe one person answers the question and then we go off on a tangent without ever circling back for everyone else to answer.

Another thing is when tangents go on for too long I don’t know how to go about interrupting and redirecting the conversation. I do my show with my brother and cousin and they spent a good 30 minutes going on about shows and comics that I don’t follow and I felt left out which is fine but I felt it went on for longer than I think it should’ve and I didn’t know how to redirect it so we can all participate in the conversation. I like to have conversations that all of us can chime in and participate in and I understand that tangents are normal.

Do you guys have any advice on what I can do to improve?
