Ideal weight: aim for 3–8 kg per parcel. Below that it’s not worth it, above that gets riskier.
Don’t go over ~10–13 kg if you want to avoid inspections. Heavier packages attract more attention.
Declare a realistic value: around €10–15 per kg. Too low looks suspicious.
Best shipping lines: use “tax free” or “EU line” when available. They’re usually safer.
Shipping lines breakdown:
DHL Tax-Free: goes through another EU country first, very low customs risk, usually 10–18 days, average price, most used in Europe. Good for clothes and shoes, ideal for 2–10 kg.
DHL / FedEx / UPS (express): very fast (5–16 days), expensive, high chance of customs checks. Only use for “safe” items.
EMS: slower (20–30+ days), cheaper, decent option but can still get checked sometimes.
Remove boxes (especially shoes) to reduce weight and volume.
Combine items to reach a good weight, but don’t ship everything in one huge parcel.
Always check QC before shipping. Once it’s sent, it’s over.
If you have a lot of items, split into 2 medium parcels instead of 1 big one.
Simple: medium parcel, safe line, clean declaration = way less problems.
