I don't know anything about the acting world so sorry if this is a dumb question but I've always wondered if extras get paid all the time. I feel like there's people who would just volunteer for some stuff. Especially for larger productions. Like being someone in the crowd or as a waiter that only has a couple of lines, aren't there people who would do it for free just for the experience? If not, what is the reason? Are there like regulations against it?
