just noticed an eery Shredder detail in “The Invasion”…

in Shredder’s flashback of Karai getting mutated, he doesn’t see himself cutting the chain. In his mind the chain just breaks and she falls, as he calls from the distance. It goes to show how far he deludes himself into being free from any accountability for his actions, enabling himself to just blame Splinter for everything. Like I knew he had no accountability, but it always went over my head that we literally get to SEE how his mind works here , that he really doesn’t see himself in the wrong at all. Great visual storytelling, great (and too realistic) villain, great writing 👏🏽.

April is Splinter's second chance & no scene shows that better than this one. He never got to raise Miwa and grieves that everyday, having to accept that despite their DNA, she has to find her own way off of the Shredder's path. And despite having a father in her life, April lacked a mother figure and a truly present father figure because if Kirby wasn't kidnapped, he was a mutant, or he was too traumatised to be as there for her as she needed him to be. Splinter practically raised April for 4-5 years & every time they interact you can just see how much April admires and loves him and how much he cares for her as if she were his own daughter. This moment shows Splinter that even if he lost the chance to raise his own daughter, he proved that he would have done a job through April. I hope I made sense but TLDR; April is Splinter's second chance at having a daughter.
