The Green Party is not absolute

I feel we really need reminding here that no political party is absolute or “perfect”

Yes the left sometimes would put purity over anything else which I suspect is due to some weird identity crisis because we’re obsessed with fighting with what’s right but not fixing it but that’s another conversation.

What I appreciate from the party especially in my local is filled diverse ideas and backgrounds and I’ve been exposed to that doesn’t match up with mine and the conversation on this subreddit on stuff that we either agree or disagree. It definitely feels open to interesting conversation (bar the usual trolls)

But it’s annoying how people seem to be under the impression that we’re flawless that because we speak of empathy and compassion but we also understand that we’re a political party and we need to play the game. Especially now when the deck is stacked against all the left wing parties.

We can criticise the choices the party and its members make and that’s ok but I refuse to deal in extreme where we need to be morally superior no matter what. Thats as terrifying as the rise of the far right in my eyes, just another brand of intolerance.

The Green Party should not be under no illusion, we offer the best message but we are also a party set on winning an election that clearly doesn’t want a left wing party to win and we have no time to deal in moral purity.

We should criticise what we can and try to do better where we can but expecting something that is unattainable helps no one and will lead to a reform win.
