I read this book sometime in the late 80s or early 90s. I remember a scene where the main character meets her niece and thinks the girl is acting odd. The main character later dies, is reborn as her niece, and we see the scene again from the girl's point of view. I think the title had the word star or stars in it. I believe the cover had a dark-haired woman maybe with a dog or wolf under a night sky.
