It may not seem like a big battle, but if I lost that city, I would be left without a troop center and also without a line of defense because I didn't have any army in that region.

I took Rome, the Pope spent his time ignoring the wars between Christians, the Mongols invaded, he launched a crusade, France made peace and declared war the following time, much chaos.
