Loved Collar x Malice, what should I play next as an otome newbie?

I’m somewhat new to otome games and looking for recommendations for Switch or PC (English translated only, JP voice acting is fine). Budget isn’t really an issue as long as the game is good. There are just so many options, and premises alone don't convince me, so I'd really appreciate your help!

Here are some games I’ve played, ranked from best to worst in terms of enjoyment:

  • Collar x Malice: My favorite otome game so far, especially Okazaki and Yanagi's routes. I loved the mix of investigation, high stakes and emotional tension, plus how naturally the relationships developed through working together. Enomoto’s route was the only one that really didn’t work for me because I dislike the “awkward guy afraid of women” trope.
  • A Date with Death: Absolutely loved the conversational chemistry and banter. The spicy DLC was chef’s kiss.
  • Cinderella Phenomenon: Played it years ago and remember loving it.
  • Taisho x Alice: I liked the psychological twists and darker themes, but I struggled with how difficult it was to get the good endings without a guide. Plus, not looking for something this heavy right now.
  • Code: Realize: I wanted to love it, but the pacing completely lost me. It’s been years, and I’m still not done with the common route. If anyone can convince me to pick it up again, please do.

Generally, I like MCs with agency who actively drive the plot and romance that develops through shared danger. I have a soft spot for competent, emotionally guarded LIs who slowly become vulnerable. I also prefer a good balance between romance and plot, mature writing, and adult casts.

Big NOs for me:

  • Large age gaps involving minors
  • LI SAing the MC
  • MC constantly being infantilized/looked down on
  • Pure fluff with little emotional tension

I’m currently considering Olympia Soirée, even if TEMPEST, Nightshade, and Bustafellows. Do these sound good for me? Any spoiler-free warnings before buying? I’d also love other recommendations if you have any. Thank you!
